About Us

Founded by site engineer Bob Ford in 1982, Ford Civil Engineering began as a two-man operation working from a porta-cabin in Chandlers Ford. Together with surveyor, Graham Canning, Ford Civil Engineering developed a strong presence among local building developers in Hampshire, providing high quality groundworks on time and within budget.

In 1992, Jay Martin moved from Buyer to Director, and instigated the relocation to Dorset with the intention of establishing the company as one of the premier groundworks firms in the county. By 2003, the final move to Wimborne was achieved where Linda Porter and Andy Baldwin were later appointed as directors.

A Legacy of Excellence in

Groundworks and Infrastructure

Ford Civil Engineering continued its controlled expansion, welcoming new developers alongside long-standing clients and continuing to provide a first-class service to multiple, award-winning sites. Bob and Graham’s phased retirement commenced in 2015, safely in the knowledge that the company’s ethos remained.

In January 2021, shortly after Linda’s retirement, senior surveyors; Chris Russell, Nick Hughes and Tom Newman joined the board of directors alongside Jay and Andy where they continue to organically grow the business and maintain strong client relationships.

Today we pride ourselves on being reputable leaders of groundworks and infrastructure in the South, working on multi-million pound developments that we are proud to be a part of.
